Great Horned Owl Iris, or Giclée Print |
Iris, or Giclée Prints
Giclée printing is wonderfully faithful to the
original in colour and detail. This high-resolution imaging and maximum
color fidelity and stability is provided by 200 year archival inks and 1200
dpi (dots-per-inch). The method used to lay down the printing inks gives
a beautiful, velvety thickness that particularly suits this high quality
acid-free paper. Iris prints are considerably more resistant to damage from
ultra-violet light than are lithographs. If framed with ultra-violet proof
plexi-glass, they should last indefinitely. The Great Horned Owl giclee
print pictured at left is currently available for purchase. Click
the link below for further information.
Offset Colour Lithographs
Offset lithography is a method of printing from a metal or stone surface on which the printing areas are made ink-receptive. Rather than pressing inked images onto paper using plates with raised or etched plates, an image is transferred to the paper using oil-based inks, chemically-treated plates made from photographic negatives, and an offset cylinder. The colors are broken down into the 4 primaries and then printed on top of each other.
